Rowling’s' assumed refusal to allow Yates to adapt the story to screen creatively, if at all, has annihilated any possibility of a climactic arc. The running time makes this completely unacceptable. However, credit must be given where due. I speak of the romantic relationship development between two integral characters. It is a sensitive and intelligent portrayal, which perfectly juxtaposes the tender love with the chaotic and cruel rise of the dark lords army. It was developed with appropriate ratios of humour, tension and wonder. The tumultuous emotions felt by love struck youth are perfectly portrayed. I applaud the bravery of all involved, even if I am a little confused as to its location in the text. Homosexuality has long been a taboo subject, especially in the wizarding world.
